VTech is seeking an experienced Copywriter for a 6 mo. assignment in Beaverton.

The Marketing Copywriter/Editor is responsible for developing integrated print and online messaging that supports and elevates VTech's B2C and B2B brands (consumer/retail telephones, baby monitors/baby care, wireless monitoring products, hotel phones, and business phones). This includes collaborating with key stakeholders and creative team members to concept positioning and campaign ideas to ensure deliverables speak to appropriate audiences, adhere to brand voice guidelines and meet overall strategic/business objectives.



  • Conceive, develop, write and edit persuasive, on-brand copy for variety of marketing vehicles. This includes:
  • Reviewing and questioning all details in the marketing request form (MRF)
  • Scheduling kick-off meetings with clients, creative team members and other key stakeholders
  • Brainstorming concepts that fuse copy, design and strategy
  • Maintaining consistent brand voice throughout materials
  • Keeping audience top of mind
  • Ensuring highest standards of grammar and diction, and that copyright and trademark attributes are correct
  • Obtaining legal review and approval where appropriate
  • Meeting deadlines
  • Keeping track of success and failures to revisit for future projects
  • Copy deliverables include, but are not limited to: advertising (print and online), brochures, catalogs, direct mail (print and digital), POP/POS materials (e.g., displays), e-communications, presentations, social media, infographics, blogs, case studies, tradeshow support (e.g., booth graphics and collateral), video storyboarding and web content ideation
  • Specifically responsible for all copy and editor responsibilities for the following e-communications activities.
  • eDMs
    • Retail: Proof VTech and AT&T eDMs from Hong Kong. Facilitate creative team reviews. Work with peers in Hong Kong, on creative team and with Web Marketing Manager to come up with ways to streamline process and improve performance overall.
    • Business/Hotel Phones: Work with Business Phones Channel Marketing Manager, Product Manager, creative team peers and Web Marketing Manager to develop messaging for eDM campaigns incorporating a fresh approach, including messaging and format.  
  • eNewsletters
    • Business/Hotel Phones: Work with Business Phones Channel Marketing Manager, Product Marketing Manager, Creative Services Manager and Hong Kong peers to develop and deliver periodic eNewsletters that support multi-tier sales approach.
  • Web Collage & Amazon A+ Content
    • Ensure retail and business products are accurately represented on partner websites using Web Collage and Amazon A+ processes
    • Provide VP of Marketing and Channel Marketing Managers with quarterly Web Collage reports, highlighting aberrations
  • Web Page Copy development and Review Support
  • Prioritize workload and effectively manage competing priorities and deadlines
  • Consistently exceed standards for quality and accuracy



  • Exceptional communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills while working with stakeholders at all levels in the company
  • Excellent attention to detail and command of grammar rules, in particular AP Style requirements
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects in a high-pressure environment and across different time zones, demonstrating can-do attitude and flexibility with changing schedules, scopes and priorities
  • A strong drive for results, with a proven track record, often delivering under tight deadlines
  • The ability to creatively resolve issues, understanding business constraints around resources, budgets, and timelines
  • Exceptionally strong project management skills
  • Sense of curiosity, and desire to ask questions and "think outside the box"
  • Ability to think on feet, problem solve and pitch in where needed Ability to translate technical information into interesting and compelling marketing messages
  • Ability to integrate consistent brand voice and personality into all communications
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat and all relevant social media platforms
  • High professional and ethical standards
  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, English, Marketing or a related field, and 2-3 years of progressively responsible experience in the area of consumer products writing and editing; or any combination of experience and education that provides the necessary skills, knowledge and ability to perform assigned tasks.
