VTech is seeking a Graphic Designer to join our Marketing team  for a 3+ mo. contract opportunity. 

The Graphic Designer must have strong graphic design and production skills with a willingness to contribute to the creative process‚ including graphic design, layout, typography, revisions and file release to printers. Additionally, the Graphic Designer will help initiate and implement design and branding consistency.

 

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Interacts with Marketing, Sales and Product Management teams on a regular basis to understand and communicate needs, obtain approvals and prioritize activities.
  • Prioritize workload and effectively manage competing priorities and deadlines
  • Design responsibilities include packaging, product catalogs, advertising, retail signage, brochures, newsletters, flyers, displays, posters, banners, video storyboards, static and animated web graphics, mockups and miscellaneous      collateral; works with Senior Graphic Designer to conceptualize and design these items but also able to complete these items with no direction from Senior Graphic Designer when necessary.
  • Performs a large portion of the design and production work and exceeds standards for quality, accuracy, on-time performance and adherence to required direction      and format.
  • Review proofs from vendors checking for crucial elements such as color accuracy, consistency, material usage and other components unique to each project.
  • Excellent grasp of proper file set-up for both print and web.
  • Seek out stock photography or video clips on various stock websites when necessary. Also, have familiarity with the licensing process and the costs associated with that process.
  • Attend meetings and work closely and collaboratively with management level staff and Marketing personnel on concepts and specific Marketing initiatives.
  • Work with the appropriate team members to coordinate updates to Marketing Collateral, Images and Spec Sheets on our resource websites when new items are created and existing items are changed.
  • Work with the appropriate Marketing team members to develop social media monthly content plans and imagery.
  • Archive design files, stock/product photos, and any other relevant documents or files on our marketing server.
  • Review and question all details in marketing request forms (MRF).
  • Scheduling kick-off meetings with clients, creative team members and other key stakeholders.

 

SPECIFIC JOB SKILLS

  • Excellent working knowledge of graphic design principles, layout, composition, typography and color theory.
  • Ability to take designs through the stages of concept, execution, and published format in relatively short timeframes.
  • Well-developed page layout and design skills.
  • Must have a thorough understanding of fundamentals of print production and pre-press.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Maintains high attention to detail, completing multiple or repetitive tasks.
  • Good organizational skills and the ability to focus on important details.
  • Ability to meet deadlines, juggle multiple priorities and adjust to changes in schedules and assignments.
  • Manage several projects at a time while maintaining composure and timeliness.
  • Extremely knowledgeable with Adobe Creative Suite including InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop and Flash. Also knowledgeable in Microsoft Office.
  • Very strong understanding of branding guidelines and ability to apply guidelines consistently to a wide variety of projects without direction from Senior      Graphic Designer; able to communicate branding guidelines to others and also assist in the development of new branding.
  • Maintains clear, consistent, and timely communication with appropriate staff and customers including the ability to recommend design and enhancements to projects.
  • Advanced experience with creating graphic elements for the web.
  • Actively participate in project discussions and offer solutions to challenges.
  • Plan concepts by studying information and materials and also perform research when appropriate on Design and Marketing trends relative to projects.
  • Present concepts clearly and effectively when reviewing projects with Senior Graphic Designer and other appropriate staff.
  • Perform creative brainstorming and mock-up design ideas to illustrate concepts.

 

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, Marketing Communications Design or a related field, and 5+ years of progressively responsible experience in the area of Graphic Design; or any combination of experience and education that provides the necessary skills, knowledge and ability to perform assigned tasks.
